This new film is an informative, inspirational documentary aimed at sharing ideas to provoke environment-friendly and cost-effective changes in cities worldwide. The documentary focuses on innovations in transportation, recycling, social benefits including affordable housing, seasonal parks, and the processes that transformed Curitiba into one of the most livable cities in the world. |

The Urban Food and Organic Land Care
Movement in Greenbelt |
Using Permaculture Principles this workshop
will focus on ideas for how you can transform your large or small yard
or use containers to create a pesticide free, edible, and wildlife and
Chesapeake Bay friendly space. This session will also discuss ideas for
a demonstration community garden outside the community center and review
the Greenbelt Recycling and Environment Advisory Committee (REAC) report
on Pesticide Use in Greenbelt that recommended Greenbelt adopt a goal of
meeting standards for organic land care management by January 2010. |

Pam Wasserman, Vice President for Education of Population Connection (formerly Zero Population Growth) will give a history and overview of Population Connection and discuss its three major areas of work: population education, advocacy, and grassroots field work. The discussion will highlight the environmental effects of overpopulation and inform interested individuals how to become aware of and involved in population issues. |

to live, learning from mistakes, and building inclusive communities
dedicated to respecting the rights of all beings provide a framework for
the presentations and films being organized for the weekend.
